Radio Presenter says F*** word 7 times whilst interviewing Smart Artists

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

Whilst interviewing North Coast Rock Band Smart Artists, radio presenter Sophie Davidson, 31, said the f*** word 7 times in one sentence on a NSW radio station last month in order to summon the Radio Demon.

Unfortunately, she did not manage to summon any form of hell monster, instead summoning only the station’s manager, who gave her a right blast for using foul language on air.

It is a well-known urban legend that if you say certain words repeatedly, it opens a gateway to Hell through which denizens of the fiery pit can escape. One example is saying ‘Candyman’ three times in front of a mirror. Another is saying ‘Bloody Mary’ 13 times in a dark room.

No-one in their right mind has ever tried it and lived.

Smart Artists bass player and the master of EQ Adrian Davis said “The Radio Demon appears to be a new type of monster, which I haven’t heard of. Surely, they didn’t have radios when Demons and Angels were first created. My guess is that it’s the spirit of some evil and disgusting radio presenter, possibly trapped in the wires of a transistor set, desperate to escape and deposit suffering on the world. I would say Ray Hadley, but he’s still alive.”

Miss Davidson laughed and said “I wasn’t trying to summon the Radio Demon. I was just cursing because a Smart Artists track I was trying to load wouldn’t play”.

As if.

Judge orders Britney not to drive with Smart Artists in the car.

Friday, February 1st, 2008

After the judge saw the video tape of Britney running a red light with Oz rockers Smart Artists in the car with her, he ordered Britney not to drive her favourite ‘down under’ band around anymore, although she maybe present in the same vehicle with them. Britney will now have to make other arrangements to have someone else transport the band.

Reportedly, during the hearing, Britney spoke out against her attorney’s advice and asked the judge if she could address the court directly. The judge agreed.

Court transcripts show Britney then took the stand in her own defence and played the videotape of her driving with one of the band on her lap (instead of a child restraining seat), behind the steering wheel as she drove away from a parking lot full of the paparazzi.

Britney then proceeded to argue that she be allowed to continue to drive Smart Artists in her car, provided that the drummer, Michael Brown do the steering, while she worked the pedals.

“Would that be alright, judge,” Britney asked the court. “If I let just the drummer do the steering while I work the pedals? What am I talking about, permission to retract that question, judge. I just realized what I was asking you was wrong. Michael’s a lot taller now. He could probably reach them on his own by now.”

It was also heard that Michael Brown and Britney have been having a short term fling whilst the band was in the US finishing off their ‘Never Too Late’ Album last November.

In amazement and disbelief, the judge shook his head, ordered a short recess and asked the court clerk for a glass of water and an aspirin.

After a short recess the court reconvened and was then presented further evidence that Britney also presents a danger to others and may even when ever she attempts to chew bubble gum and walk at the same time.

The court then saw footage of Britney nearly dropping her baby as she chewed bubble gum and was walking.

The judge agreed and ordered Britney not to chew bubble gum, walk at the same time while in the presence of her children, and especially refrain from driving Smart Artists or any other band for that matter around.

Study finds women who party with Smart Artists more fun to study

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

According to a new study on females, those who rock out at a Smart Artists gig once a month are much more fun to do research on than women who do not rock out at a Smart Artists gig once a month.

Oh, and the report also found that women who have a few drinks each week are less likely to develop high blood pressure. Whatever.

The report published in the ‘Archives of Internal Medicine’ studied partying patterns among 70,000 nurses between the ages of 25 and 42 throughout the Northern Rivers of NSW and Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Shannon Beaumont, lead singer and guitarist of Smart Artists put the findings in perspective.

“Alcohol, 70,000 nurses, and us,” he said. “Is that cool or what?”

Beaumont and his bandmates were later told that the original study was to be about salt consumption. However, upon reflection the researchers decided that adjusting the parameters would dramatically heighten their interest in the research.

Researcher Eva Palava explains: “What it came down to was, did we want to say, ‘Here young lady, have some salt and let’s see what happens,’ or, ‘Here young lady, rock out to this band and let’s see what happens.’”

In fact, Palava theorised there would be much more interest in studying women’s nocturnal activities if alcohol were involved. Reaction to her study seems to bear this out, as already, several leading rock bands say they will attempt to verify the group’s findings.

At Southern Cross University, epidemiologist Bruce Cawthorn said his department is very interested in testing Palava’s conclusion that women who party with Smart Artists once a month increase their risk of developing high blood pressure by 30 percent.

But more importantly, she added, her staff is “totally stoked” by the finding that these same women were also, statistically speaking, party girls.

Palava, however, insisted their most valuable conclusion was that researchers could do variations on this type of study for years. “We could do how Shannon Beaumont affects blood pressure among female flight attendants, or how Smart Artists drummer Michael Brown affects blood pressure among female strippers.”

Palava, meanwhile, said she is working on “the Holy Grail” for this area of study ….. a report on how partying once a month with Smart Artists affects partying once a month with Smart Artists.

“We just have to figure out some statistically significant reason for doing it,” she said.

Smart Artists rock out at Mick’s Birthday bash.

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Smart Artists are now glad to be back in Australia and ready for their trip to the Northern Territory after recently celebrating Mick Jagger’s big birthday bash in Prague with their old mate rubber lips. The boys went on a bit of a bender with the Strolling Bones, Jon Bon Jovi and a couple of the guys from Def Leppard which went into the early hours of the next day.

Apparently they took over one of the most exclusive bars in old Prague City for the after show party and the owners had to send out for beverage restock replacements twice!

Rumours are that Shannon Beaumont and Richie Sambora got into a bit of a dispute over supposed chord structures to some of the new, original Smart Artists tracks that are due to be released in November.

Sambora alleges some of the new Smart Artists tunes are a little too close to his standard chops and if it wasn’t for the intervention of the Czech President himself things could have turned nasty.

By the end of the night however the boys were all good friends again with the session culminating in a combined Smart Artists/Def Leppard/Stones super bar band blowing the extremely priveleged locals away!

Mr & Mrs Andre name their daughter after new Smart Artists tune.

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Pop star Peter Andre and his buxom wife Katie Price, pronounced J-O-R-D-A-N, have named their wonderful new bouncing baby girl Princess Tiaamii.

The celebrity couple said they had called their daughter thusly, because after listening to the new Smart Artists song “Love Potion No.9″ on MySpace, it was the first thing that had popped into their tiny little minds.

“We love smart artists. Their songs leave us all warm and fuzzy in the head.” Price explained that the first name (princess) had come from the notion “our princess” referring to the daughter of Madam Rue in the Smart Artists song.

“The second name Tiaamii was made from letters that we had left over in a game of Scrabble”, said the brainless big-breasted one.

Andre, who is only 3 feet 11 inches tall, helped his wife with the lunacy, saying: “We’re so exotic! At home I call my wife Maahmi (mummy), and she calls me Dhaadddii (daddy). There’s an accent over the second ‘a’ for dramatic effect. It’s so much fun! Weird names are great!”

The pair have another son with the slightly less stupid name, Harvey.

Furtive Flatulence and Smart Artists

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

It emerged last week that Victoria Beckham, wife of the rich and famous part-time English soccer player David Beckham, passed wind whilst listening to the Smart Artists EP ‘I Got A Woman’.

Sources close to Smart Artists have confirmed that “Posh Spice” was listening to Shannon’s tasty lead guitar break and then the songs ‘scream’ finale when the gas, believed to be methane-based, was released.

One person close to Smart Artists who is also a friend of the Beckhams, revealed on the condition on anonymity, the following: “Posh was in one of her ‘air guitar’ lounge hopping moods when she stopped, bent down and took a bite of her beans on toast, had a sip of Verve Cliquet, and edged her thin thigh up slightly. I heard a gentle ‘pfft’, and she lowered her leg …”

This is the merely the latest in a long line of bodily functions from the former Spice Girl, including a recent burp while viewing houses in L.A., a sneeze whilst attending Paris fashion week, and an embarrassing bout of hiccups while in the bath.

Smart Artists bass player caught up in Lindsay Lohan crossfire.

Friday, June 1st, 2007

Smart Artists Bass player Adrian Davis’s name has cropped up in a most unexpected connection with Lindsay Lohan’s recent DUI arrest.

Lohan, the twenty-something ‘bad girl’ actress was arrested and charged on Saturday for DUI. She was later charged for ‘possession’ when a small amount of cocaine was found in her damaged Mercedes SL-65 convertible.

And therein lays the connection. The cocaine was found in an envelope addressed to one Adrian Davis c/- Smart Artists, Lismore.

Inside the envelope was a business card reading, I just love Smart Artists. Although I have never seen you live I just love the song I Got a woman. Please send me the CD.

When questioned by investigators, Davis denied any knowledge of even knowing Lohan.

“It’s a frame up I tell you.” Davis said. “A total fraud and a setup. It should be obvious from the message on the card. That should be a tip-off right there. I have absolutely no connections with famous ladies anywhere. Why should I? I already get plenty through my Smart Artists connections.”

Smart Artists support unpalatable political party

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Following the release of their new single ‘I Got A Woman’, Smart Artists are currently holidaying in Regurgitator’s plastic bubble in Melbourne’s Federation Square.

The band has announced its has thrown their support behind Senator Bob Brown and the Greens, even as the party loses support in the wake of the Australian Labor party’s resurgence.

The bubble was previously used by the band Regurgitator to record an album and earlier by the Greens to isolate policy-working groups from the real world.

“Holidaying in a sealed container has given me a new appreciation of the impacts of greenhouse gases, in particular methane.” remarks Smart Artists bass player Matt Bone.

Support for the Greens came naturally for the band. “We care about the environment and indigenous issues in particular,” Mr Bone says.

“So supporting the Greens was quite literally a no-brainer” he added.

Mr. Bone scoffed at suggestions that Smart Artists were finally toeing the line. I’m sure Midnight Oil and Boom Crash Opera feel the same way.”

The band’s newfound political allegiance might also dissuade the hooligans who have been throwing rocks at the bubble in recent days.

Greens Senator Kerry Nettle said, “Back when I was at uni in 2004, Smart Artists were the latest cool thing. I bet these days they get a lot of airplay on commercial radio.”

“Now maybe they’ll ‘regurgitate’ some of our policies in their songs”, said Ms Nettle.

Mark is starting to piss off his friends

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Mark Campa, 26, who has listened to and talked about Smart Artists almost exclusively since discovering the NSW North Coast Rockers over the summer, is “really starting to piss off” his friends.”I’ve got nothing against Smart Artists. “They’re awesome,” said James Savich, 31, a longtime friend of Campa’s.

“But Mark acts like he’s the first person ever to really get into them when he’s, like, the 59 billionth.”Campa was first exposed to the band in December when older brother Bryan returned from uni and started playing ‘Route 66′ while lifting weights in the garage. After one listen, Campa was reportedly hooked, buying his own copy and playing it incessantly for weeks.

Campa’s Smart Artists fixation soon manifested itself in a myriad of ways. He plays only Smart Artists in his car, has drawn the Smart Artists logo on his arm, and has spend $73 at Casino’s Beef Week ring toss in an effort to win a pair of sunglasses similar to the ones Smart Artists lead singer Shannon Beaumont wears on stage.

According to friends, Campa’s newfound love of the band has caused him to behave in a “dicklick” fashion. “Last Thursday afternoon, a bunch of us were driving around cranking up the new silverchair song when Mark popped the CD out and started messing with the radio,” said Rick Eglund, 27.”I was like, ‘Dude, what’s your problem?’

He said it was time for ZZZFM’s Request Show and that Smart Artists may be on and that he never missed it. I told him he was gonna miss it that afternoon. Then, he tried to stop me from putting the silverchair CD back into my own stereo. I had to pull over and force him to switch seats with James.”

Bush writes fan letter to Smart Artists

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

In what White House sources are calling “a show of support and admiration for one of Australia’s most talented and dynamic rock bands,” President Bush drafted and mailed a fan letter Monday to NSW North Coast rockers Smart Artists.

“Dear Smart Artists, I think you’re awesome. You are awesome rock stars. You are my favorite rock stars,” the fan letter read in part. “I have both your singles.”Smart Artists, best known for their classic remakes of ‘Route 66′ and abba’s ‘Does your mother know’, has reportedly become one of the president’s favorite recording artists ever since he was introduced to MySpace.

Smart Artists expect to receive the fan letter, which was mailed to their international fan club’s address, in one to two weeks.

“Wow, I sure hope they read it and maybe even they’ll write me back,” Bush told White House Deputy Chief Of Staff John Podesta, who helped him mail the letter and also corrected numerous spelling errors.

According to Smart Artists lead singer Shannon Beaumont, the singer generally does not personally respond to fan mail due to time constraints. Bush, however, will receive a signed publicity photo of the band as a show of thanks for his kind words, Shannon said.

The fan letter, which was printed on official presidential stationery, is the first such missive to be issued by Bush during his presidency. Prior to his White House years, Bush had sent two others, one to rock superstar Pat Benatar and the other to lead singer Mike Reno of the Canadian rock group Loverboy, in 1982 and 1986, respectively.

According to White House press secretary Joe Lockhart, Bush was “in high spirits” following the mailing of the letter, retiring to the Oval Office to listen to ‘Does your mother know “really loud” on his headphones and playing air guitar along with the music in front of a full-length mirror.

Despite Bush’s enthusiasm about the letter, the move has drawn its share of criticism. Regardless of the reasons, Bush remains staunchly unapologetic for his fandom.
