Hi Guys,
I was at the Grand Hotel last night and saw your set. Just wanted to tell you all how fantastic it was a what a great sound you have. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Good Luck with the song release.
While I was there, you took a photo of me and my date and I was wondering if you would mind emailing it to me? Bit hard for you to know who I am though….! I have long dark hair and was wearing a black lacy top and Stuart has blondish hair and was wearing a white polo shirt.
Thanks so much for the trouble.
Keep up the great work!
October 23rd, 2006 at 4:44 pm
Hey Guys
Great show last night at the Grand. Gotta say your guitarist is one sexy piece.
What’s his name and how do I contact him?
October 25th, 2006 at 6:47 pm
Hey Boys
Great performance at the Grand Hotel Sunday nite….
Ok now, flattery aside, I am wondering when we’re gonna see the pics taken that nite, on your web site??
October 26th, 2006 at 9:23 pm
Hi Smart Artists- every radio station should give Route 66 a go-it just rocks with the megaphone effect-let’s get the album out there really soon-it could explode!!!
Looking forward to seeing you at Mary Gilhooleys next Saturday night.
Rock on boys
November 8th, 2006 at 2:13 pm

November 10th, 2006 at 6:17 am
Good work fellas. Nice version for sure, especially with the ZZ Top inspired angle you got going there. Some lovely guitar work going on here too.
Can’t fault the production either…
Do you have any of your own material?
November 22nd, 2006 at 5:04 pm
Hey Guys!
Awesome gig last Saturday nite. Hope u guys had fun in the crazy town of Crommas.
Have a safe trip home to Oz. Hope to hear youse again soon.
November 23rd, 2006 at 6:37 am
Hey guys had a ball Friday night. When are guys coming back to NZ?
November 23rd, 2006 at 6:46 pm
Hey Guys
Remember me. You know that fat guy you gave the CD to at the Golden Gate before you even hummed a bar.
I have not had the CD out of the player. Great Song. Oh my god I think Im a groupie.
November 27th, 2006 at 4:46 pm
Hey Guys
Not only are you a great band with a great selection of songs, you are also great performers and entertainers which as you know is imperative in this business.
It was our busiest night and a tribute to you guys.
I have never received such positive feedback regarding a band in the past and I handled many phone calls the following day wanting to know when you were playing next.
Next time you travel to New Zealand I will definitely be booking you again, hopefully for a couple of nights.
I have no hesitation in recommending you, as value for money is guaranteed; you are a great band, great entertainers and fantastic to deal with.
December 4th, 2006 at 6:50 pm
Hey boys, what happened on Sunday night 3rd December? Went to the Grand Hotel for your much anticipated gig, and youz were ‘no-shows’.
December 5th, 2006 at 3:53 pm
Hi Lee
Tony was not at all well all last week. We’ll make it up to you.
December 5th, 2006 at 3:58 pm
Hi Guys
You immediately showed why you are regarded as the top rock covers band from your region. And it didn’t take long to get the appreciative audience up and dancing.
You displayed all the qualities that we have come to expect from hard working Aussie rock bands, tight rhythm section, strong vocals & harmonies, and excellent guitar work.
Your relaxed style and good humour between songs meant that the punters were always kept entertained.
It was a pleasure having you at the Dunedin Musicians’ Club and look forward to your next tour.
December 10th, 2006 at 9:24 am
Hi Smart Artists. Saw you at Club Banora a couple of months ago. Any chance of you guys gigging in Melbourne?
December 10th, 2006 at 11:49 am
Funny you should ask that. I’ll be in Melbourne early January to hopefully catch up with a Melbourne agent we have been introduced to. Fingers crossed Paris.
December 14th, 2006 at 4:55 pm
Guys. Love Route 66. Gonna release anything else soon. Have you any plans to motor west …. say Inverell way.
December 20th, 2006 at 10:48 pm
Peter, thanks for answering my email! I just listened to the Route 66 song, and love it. You know its being played a couple of times a day down here.
I am also glad my husband does not mind my current fixations, namely Smart Artists. He has had to deal with cartoons (Marvin the Martian), Humphrey Bogart movies and George Strait (yes, I listen and dance to country) in the past and now it is Smart Artists. I love this website especially the ‘news’.
December 23rd, 2006 at 10:06 am
On behalf of all here at Smart Artists Headquarters, I want to take this opportunity to offer sincere best wishes for a very merry Christmas, happy holidays or whatever it is you’re celebrating and a peaceful and joyous 2007 to all the people out there who have supported and shown their love for all things Smart Artists during 2006 - next year is certainly shaping up to be a big one for the band.
December 29th, 2006 at 1:24 pm
Hi guys! Just popped on to say I can’t wait to see you guys in person. Hopefully I’ll be taking my mum from the UK to see ya at Yamba, she’s in love with Route 66!
Happy New Year!
January 2nd, 2007 at 2:41 pm
Hi guys, HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2006 rocked with Smart Artists in it.
Since seeing you for the first time back at Mary’s in Lismore, not only did my cat not die, but the price of carrots went down and the weather improved. Baffling.
Wishing you much good rocking in 2007.
January 10th, 2007 at 9:59 am
I have been away a while so I wanted to pop in and see how things are going. I hope everyone has been spreadin’ rockin’ holiday cheer. The madness is almost over here in NZ.
*hugs and waves*
January 12th, 2007 at 8:53 am
WHO IS THIS MYSTERIOUS NEW FRONT MAN???
i hear his voice is as magnificent as a fully grown mountain gorrilla in the mating season, his lead guitar sends tingles down your spine and he has guns the size of telegraph poles!
January 13th, 2007 at 5:20 pm
Hi Silverback, your lovely words say it all really ….. he plans to reveal himself February 9 at Bangalow. Should be quite a sight!
January 20th, 2007 at 2:57 pm

January 24th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
Hey Ryan, would you believe me if I said an Abba song. Yes that’s right. We have recently released ‘Does your mother know’. Let us know what you think.
January 26th, 2007 at 10:52 am

Just heard ya new tune on the radio. Good shit.
February 6th, 2007 at 5:09 pm
I’ve lost count on the number of times I’ve listened to Route 66. Now there’s your take on the abba song. And all I can say is………I don’t know any words ‘BIG’ enough to say how happy the music makes me! Great work, guys!
February 8th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
Hi Rachel, wow - what a wonderful thing to say! The boys will be well chuffed to read your comment.
February 11th, 2007 at 7:35 pm

Hey Peter,
Thanks heaps for sending your 2 singles..
You guys rock! Take care
March 1st, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Thanks for the newsletter, I was laughing so hard my face hurt. You really captured the idiocy of everyones favourite world leader, George Dubbya, in a way only Peter Q. Hall could. More laughs soon please.
March 13th, 2007 at 8:36 pm
THE BASS PLAYER IS RAD!
March 16th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
Hey guys. When ya gonna start expanding southwards and book a gig in Melbourne? I’ll be front-row and your loudest fan.
Meanwhile I’d love if you’d give a big shout-out to my old mate and neighbour -Ruthie from ZZZ- for me since it seems she’s such a fan of yours.
March 17th, 2007 at 11:20 am
Hi Courtney
Melbourne over the June long weekend. That’s the plan. Ruthie from ZZZFm is without doubt one of the finest human beings to have ever lived. Rock on Ruth.
March 17th, 2007 at 11:43 am
Hey Guys. I have just spent my Saturday morning haunting every music shop in Lismore looking for your CDs. Only All Music & Vision had heard of you but they have sold out of the few CDs they had (Route 66) and don’t have a clue when you may drop some more in to them. They are keen to promote if they have something to sell. Are you going to distribute some more of both singles to the retailers? If so, please let me know. I don’t have a Paypal account and don’t want to start one. Is there any other way of getting my fix? I will be at Mary G’s on 31/03 but I would like to get both CDs before then as a present for an old muso mate of mine.
March 19th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
Hey Rod
Many thanks for bringing this to my attention. Email me at smartartists@bigpond.com.au with your email details please. See ya at Marys
PH
April 1st, 2007 at 8:20 pm

April 3rd, 2007 at 9:14 am
Hey guys SORRY I missed your gig Saturday night couldnt get away I hope you rocked MARYS OUT!
Catch you soon…
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:13 pm
Another great performance from you guys last Saturday nite. However, I must add how mightily impressed I was with the huge turn out in Mary’s, considering that on the same night, there was live Rugby League, Rugby Union, World Cup Cricket and AFL. See you in Lismore next time.
April 3rd, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Hi guys!!!
I think I’ve been here a total of 3 times; got all caught up in the Myspace thing, ya know? Anyway, I just want you to know how BRILLIANT your first 2 singlles are!!! I’m sure you’ve heard all this before, but your music speaks to a part of my soul that I thought was gone; turns out it was just sleeping and I needed you guys to wake it up!
So thanks for that! Now then… YOU NEED TO COME TO THE MELBOURNE!!! Although you should probably wait until we’re out of the deep freeze that we’re in; it’s verrrrrry cold right now! See ya on Myspace!!!
April 10th, 2007 at 4:55 pm
Hi - I am a friend of Shannon’s from London - just checked out the website - very cool! Needs more photos of Shannon!!!
April 10th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
Unfortunately Jill, Shannon’s agent cannot allow more photos of him at the moment due to contractual ties but we are in negotiations to rectify this - no doubt its gonna costs us thousands of $$$ but we all agree he’s worth it!!!
April 10th, 2007 at 7:23 pm
I saw Shannon at the blues festival on monday……he was right up the front when Normie Rowe was on (does he ever take his shade’s off?), he had 2 very good looking female’s on each arm and didn’t stop dancing for like an hour and a half.
im not sure if he was on something or just really excited about taking home 2 girls!!!
April 14th, 2007 at 10:08 am
We’re big new fans. Hey listen… you guys need any back-up dancers/human canonballs/synchronized swimmers/sanitation engineers/mule wranglers/stenographers for some of your upcoming shows? Have your people call our people! Jed.
April 15th, 2007 at 8:29 am
The boys could DEFINITELY use some synchronised sanitation engineers, that’s for sure….will be in touch.
April 18th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
Hey there guy’s, love the new song. I’ll get to see you guy’s one day!!
Every time you’re playin, I’m working the same night!!!! DOH!!
Stay well, Keep on Rockin’
See ya soon.
Cheers.
Alison
April 19th, 2007 at 7:42 am
Now Alison, this is the forty eighth time you have been busy on the night of one of our gigs! It’s wearing a bit thin girl. Seriously though, we will be playing a WHOLE LOT MORE throughout the second half of 2007! Look to the gig guide for more details. Hope to see u soon.
April 27th, 2007 at 8:01 am
Just checking out new sites and came across yours. Luv the new song. In fact I luv all 3 that you have put out. Have heard Route 66 on JJJ. Great sound, hopefully you’ll make it to Sydney soon, I’d love to take in a live show.
April 28th, 2007 at 9:24 am
Hi Nicci. We are getting so many requests to do shows in Sydney that we might just have to stage one of our enormously successful world tours! Stay tuned.
April 28th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
POACHERS BEWARE!!!
the latest Shannon sighting was at the tatts in lismore tuesday night, although the band he was singing with didnt look like Smart Artists, Hmmmmm……….am i to understand that after a few beers the young man will sing with anyone anywhere???
Does he treat the bedroom the same way?
May 1st, 2007 at 4:39 pm
Ahhhhh. Yet another Shannon citing. All bedroom singing scenes/photos/videos of Shannon are unfortunately not possible due to extreme jealousy on the part of the other Smart Artists members!! Sorry Lily.
May 20th, 2007 at 1:38 am
Thought you were planning on coming to Melbourne - June long wknd. Looking pretty booked out up there all that month. When you travelling South? Keep me posted.

July 30th, 2007 at 7:41 am
Was at Grant’s party Saturday and I gotta say I have all about you guys and heard all your songs over the waves and wasn’t sure what to expect. But you guys F#$% rocked. Great songs, all well played and you look hot. Stick it up em boys and keep it goin’.

August 6th, 2007 at 9:43 am
Hey Smart Artists
I walked past the Irish Bar in Lismore a couple of weeks ago (Sat night) and heard a band playing a great cover of “Show me the way’ by Peter Frampton, and I looked in the window and said to my husband - lets go in.
You sounded great!
My sister sent me the link to this site (she works in entertainment) and now I know your name, your new CD and when you are playing next!
Great stuff - will try and check you out at Mary Gilhooleys next time around.
August 6th, 2007 at 2:46 pm
Hi Katherine, wow what a great mini-review! The guys sure appreciate your words….welcome to our (only slightly crazy) world! So, your sister works in entertainment eh? Has she heard our new one ‘Love Potion No.9′ yet. Hmmm, maybe she could sign the band to a deal.
August 6th, 2007 at 4:09 pm
Just wanted to stop by and say hello! Remember me? So, any plans to come to the Melbourne yet? I can’t speak for ‘all’ of your VIC fans, but I know I’d come see ya! I’m thinkin’ I might just have to save up for a trip to Byron.
August 6th, 2007 at 4:47 pm
Hi Sheree
Well, you’d best start saving those pennies coz a VIC trip is probably a wayyyyyy off in the future for the guys, they are all a tad busy with their work as scientists, veterinary surgeons and abolitionists at the moment not to mention their heavy performance workload! ….. hope to see you in Lismore soon!
August 8th, 2007 at 6:02 pm
Hey Boys
The new song (love Potion) sounds great. Guitar sounds are huge. Short and rockin…nice one!
August 8th, 2007 at 7:28 pm
I luv ur new tune, Love Potion No 9 (I have always loved that oldie lol), ur version ROCKS! Keep up the awesome work’
all the best and cheers
ps. sorry I havent seen a gig for a while but the last 4 months I have had a sick kid, in and out of hospital with him, isnt much fun. Friends jokes and other emails, including ur news letters are a good way to pass the time while stuck at home lol keep em coming..lol ,, thanks
August 9th, 2007 at 10:33 am
You guys rock love all your music. Love potion will be a big hit
August 21st, 2007 at 4:27 pm
Heard some talk about Smart Artists and thought I would check you out. Good gig last Friday. I am quite impressed! So now I guess you guys have a fan from Canada who is just hanging out on the Gold Coast for a couple of weeks!!!
August 22nd, 2007 at 7:43 am
hey who is that spunky sweedish drummer you have i would come to watch you guys just for him he is very cute. Has he got a g/f if not he should. Your music is good too but he’s the highlight. Has he ever thought of wearing tight leather i think he’d look good in that.
August 22nd, 2007 at 8:10 am
Hi there Alice Louise, Sven only recently approached the rest of the band regarding wearing leather shorts on stage and in fact I think he will be giving them a whirl this weekend in Inverell/Tenterfield. As far as I know he has no girlfiend. Olga is just a friend!!!
August 26th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Hey Boys
F#$@% great gig Saturday. Cool and classy…. best band Ive seen in Tenterfield.
Next time.
September 4th, 2007 at 8:35 am
I just got a minute to finish checking out your site..(I have not had time to read EVERYTHING. I’m off to work.) I am glad the Gove thing is going to happen! I am so excited! I almost peed my pants when I read the gig guide!
September 4th, 2007 at 9:00 am
Hey Beth - It will be great to catch up with you in Gove as it will be to catch up with all our other friends in your beautiful part of the world. And please be careful with those pants of yours.
September 18th, 2007 at 8:16 am
My name is Cass. love your show at mary gilhooleys on saturday night. Just wondering where we can go online to see the pics you took??
November 26th, 2007 at 6:36 am

November 28th, 2007 at 11:25 am
Hey you guys, just checking to see how everything is going over there in Oz. Got my new CD and It works fab!!!
You guys seriously rock and I got my husband into your music too. He actually asked for the next one.
November 30th, 2007 at 6:19 am
Hi Erica, thanks so much for your continued support of the band…the guys really appreciate everything you’ve done - more orders are coming in for the CD from NZ ! Hmmm, maybe your spreading the word is working!! Hopefully catch up New Years Eve at Cromwell.
November 30th, 2007 at 4:18 pm
I’m delighted to see that Smart Artists has made Wikipedia, though the brevity of the entry is alarming. Heck, can’t anybody on the planet edit Wikipedia? If the Prime Minister’s office can edit anything from articles on mandatory detention to bird watching, references to Captain Smirk, children overboard and Serbian football scores, surely we can fix it so it doesn’t call you a minor Australian pub rock band. MINOR? You’re all over 18. AUSTRALIAN? Although Michael is from Sweden isn’t he?
December 3rd, 2007 at 7:25 am
Thanks for that titbit Ange. Indeed anyone can edit Wikipedia - so, off you go then…we suggest someone removes that ‘minor’ reference post-haste! Indeed, Michael (the artist formally known as Sven) is from Sweden - so the band is really only 75% Aussie!
December 12th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
Hey guys loved the show in Glen. Also theres a rumour sneeking around that suggests that your drummer may be related to a certain member from the outfit known as ABBA.
Hope NZ goes well
Below
December 13th, 2007 at 6:38 am
Now ‘The Love Below’ (what sort of name is that anyway), lets not let a good story get in the way of a fact. Michael’s ancestry is a little more low key. Michael was born in 1982. His father was a gent named Carl XVI Gustaf. His father (Michael’s grandfather) is Hans Blix. Micheal’s father Carl had another son named Matts. They were separated at birth and I understand he went on to play pro tennis. Stop the hyperbole - Michael is NOT related to anyone in ABBA contrary to that ‘News of the World’ article last month.
Catch up in Feb 08. Happy Hols.
December 17th, 2007 at 9:46 am
Hi Guys
Loved your Gig on Saturday night, great selection of songs. Your new album rocks. My kids love it thanks Pete.

Hey SmartArtists,
Caught your show in Glen Innis last weekend,
was amazed to see a band of your caliber playing in our area,
had an awesome night rockin out,
hope to see you in the area again soon!
I have also learned not to try and tell someone on the phone that ‘Smart Artists’ are playing tonight, especially after a few beers!!!
February 26th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Hi Guys! I’m sure this is a silly question, but is Never Too Late! eligible for an ARIA Award, since it was produced independently? Or does that make any difference? Just full of questions. Thanks!
